RC Laser Supply to the UK

A very specific post today about RC Laser supply to the UK…..or more accurately the lack of.

Some background – Many years ago I was introduced to radio sailing via the RC Laser, I very much enjoyed its quirky sailing characteristics and loved sailing in a fleet of proper one design yachts.

From that came the opportunity to supply boats and spares through Peterkin here in the UK. Some years later Peterkin passed on the distributorship to a company in Germany who deal in full size dinghies and parts. The RC Laser business integrated into the model quite well but over time the big boats became more time consuming and the RC Laser became a little less exciting as a prospect.

Through this time we continued to purchase boats and spares and ship them over to the UK for resale. The last eight months however have seen us with no access to new boats and very limited access to spare parts including sails. It’s taken us a fair while to find out what the situation is but we have found the top and bottom of it and are working hard to effect a solution with both the current supplier and also the people who own the RC Laser brand.

It’s been an exciting month trying to put things in place to secure the future of the RC Laser in the UK and Europe and we are very nearly there. It will involve a considerable investment in stock for us but as we are doing with RC Yachts and the DF yachts we hope to have all the things you might need in stock all of the time going forward.

Please don’t think we’ve given up on the RC Laser, we surely haven’t but it is taking some time to sort out the detail and it will take a while longer I am sure. Be assured we are working hard to find a solution to enable us to support the current fleets here in the UK and elsewhere.
